Sunil Manohar
Sunil made his piano concerto debut aged 16 with his school orchestra, playing Gershwin's Rhapsody in Blue. Since then concerto appearances have included Franck's Symphonic Variations for Piano and Orchestra, Rachmaninov's Piano Concerto No.2, Grieg’s Piano Concerto, Prokofiev’s Piano Concerto No.1 and Piano Concerto No.2, Liszt’s Piano Concerto No.1, Rachmaninov’s Piano Concerto No.3, Mozart’s Piano Concerto No.23 and Beethoven’s Triple Concerto, with various orchestras including Solent Symphony Orchestra, the Radcliffe Orchestra, the University of Cambridge Philharmonic Orchestra, the University of Cambridge Philharmonia, Trinity Players, Cambridge, and the Margaret Wileman Music Society. As an undergraduate he was awarded Trinity College (Cambridge)’s Edith Leigh Prize for piano playing. He holds a distinction in the Licentiate diploma at Trinity College London.
As an accompanist and répétiteur, he has worked with numerous amateur and professional choirs and opera companies (Dorset Opera, Dulwich Opera Company), working on repertoire spanning from The Magic Flute, The Marriage of Figaro, Così Fan Tutte, and Don Giovanni, to Eugene Onegin, Nabucco, La Bohème, Turandot, La fanciulla del West, Die Meistersinger, Das Rheingold, and Die Walküre. He is also a keen organist, singer, conductor, composer, and occasional percussionist.
When not musically occupied, Sunil is a Consultant in Geratology and Acute General Medicine at the John Radcliffe Hospital, and an Honorary Clinical Lecturer at the Radcliffe Department of Medicine, University of Oxford.
