Edgar Bailey

Violinist

Edgar Bailey
Edgar Bailey studied violin at Chetham's School of Music, Royal Academy of Music and Royal College of Music. He led Southbank Sinfonia in 2011 and before taking the role as Head of Strings at Cheltenham Ladies' College in 2017, had trials and freelance work with orchestras such as RPO, CBSO, Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra and The Hallé Orchestra.

Edgar won Gloucestershire Young Musician and Chandos Young Musician in 2007. In 2012 he was a string finalist at the Royal Overseas League in both the solo and chamber categories and was on both the Concordia and Philip and Dorothy Green Young Artists Programmes. He has performed with orchestras concertos by Bach, Bruch, Beethoven, Saint-Saëns, Sibelius and Tchaikovsky. Recent performances include Mozart Concerto no.4 with Cheltenham Chamber Orchestra. He has previously performed Tchaikovsky's Violin Concerto and Lalo's Symphonie Espagnole with The Radcliffe Orchestra.

In his spare time Edgar enjoys playing tennis and golf.
